Hong Kong, China Senior Women’s Team

2015-2016 is the third year the Women’s National Team competed in the IIHF World Championship Program. The tournament for 2015-2016 was held in Sofia, Bulgaira.

The 2014 – 2015 season is the Hong Kong Women’s National Team’s second year in the IIHF World Championship program. The team competed in the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s Challenge Cup of Asia – Division I in Taipei City, Taiwan and in the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship – Division II Group B Qualification, held on home ice in Hong Kong.

The  IIHF World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend is a global opportunity for girls/females of all ages to try out ice hockey as a new sport. Thousands of female participants participates in this event globally.

The event is only for female participants and is free of charge!

Women’s ice hockey is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and this is an opportunity for girls/females in Hong Kong to join in the fun! Last year, no less than 115 people were part of the event including eight organizers from the women’s national team, 18 additional women’s national team players, four more players from the league and 85 new players including 46 of the age group 3-10, nine between 11-18 and 30 adults.

HKIHA hopes this year, this event on Saturday October 6, 2018 from 8:45pm-9:45pm at Mega Ice in the MegaBox shopping mall at Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong’s full-size ice rink will continue to attract and expose more players to the sport of hockey!

HongKong Ice Hockey Association (HKIHA) is proud to announce that Hong Kong Women’s National Ice Hockey Team (HKWNIHT) will participate in the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group B Qualification (in Chinese Taipei). Participating teams are Bulgaria, Hong Kong, South Africa, Chinese Taipei and Belgium.

HKWNIHT will also participate in the Olympic Qualifications (Preliminary Round 1) to be held in Turkey in October 2016.

Applications are now open to all women hockey players who wish to participate in 2016/2017 HKWNIHT program.

2016/2017  HKWNIHT PROGRAM:-

Try Out                   –    Tuesday, 12th July, 2016 (8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)

(For new players – If you cannot attend try out, please submit video clips of your skating skills, game you played and your latest statistics from your league)

Off Ice Training       –    19 sessions on Saturdays (3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

First training starts on Saturday, 16th July 2016.

 *** Additional off ice training may be scheduled

On Ice Training       –    16 Practices on Tuesdays  (8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)

First training starts on Tuesday, 19th July 2016.

*** Additional ice time may be scheduled pending availability of MegaIce

Video Sessions       –    6 video sessions/ team meetings on Friday (8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.)

*** Video sessions may be added, cancelled or rescheduled

Exhibition Games   –    3 exhibition games against Other Teams & 3 exhibition games against HKWIHL All Stars

IIHF World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend     –    Saturday, 8th October 2016 (Assisted by players in the HKWNIHT Program)

WWIIBQ                  –    12th December to 18th December 2016.

ELIGIBILITY:

Female Players with HKSAR passport only

Player born in 2001 or earlier with valid HKSAR passport

Player born 1999-2001 are underage player, requiring signed underage waiver by parent

No payment will be necessary at this moment.  Once you have applied and have attended try outs, players will be selected into 2016/2017 HKWNIHT Program at which time payment will be collected.
